# $WINS Token

$WINS is a gaming rewards token designed to be sustainable and deflationary in order to address problems from the last generation of "play-to-earn" web3 games. $WINS reward tokens are obtained exclusively through public markets like Uniswap, and games must purchase $WINS using their own revenue. This ensures all $WINS emissions are non-inflationary, creating a more sustainable rewards token. See [Sustainability and Deflationary Rewards](/usdwins-token/usdwins-token/sustainable-and-deflationary-rewards) for more information.

$WINS also functions as a governance token, voting on DAO proposals on how to best improve the ecosystem.

$WINS is native to Ethereum as an ERC-20 token. However, $WINS activity primarily takes place on Polygon PoS, which has much lower gas fees. The majority of DEX liquidity will be on Polygon, though CEX listings likely use Ethereum. See [DeFi](/usdwins-token/defi) for more details.

# Sustainable and Deflationary Rewards

$WINS is a gaming rewards token designed to be sustainable and deflationary. Many infamous crypto games rewarded players with unbacked emissions, leading to boom-and-bust cycles with hyperinflation. $WINS addresses this problem by only releasing tokens thru public markets. Games that reward players with $WINS must purchase them from public markets, ensuring that supply is tied to demand and avoiding inflation. Moreover, $WINS endeavors to provide deep liquidity and active market-making to avoid volatile booms-and-busts.

For example, in the Trophy app, player rewards are always net deflationary, as the tokens underlying these rewards are backed by open market purchases by Trophy: if a player earns $5 worth of $WINS, then at least $5 of Trophy revenue was used to buy those tokens. This is unlike many "play-to-earn" games in which the tokens that players receive through rewards are not supported by market demand, thus creating an inflationary ecosystem. If a player redeems Gold for gift cards instead of $WINS, Trophy will still make purchases of $WINS that benefit the token ecosystem.

These demand-based emissions makes $WINS sustainable, unlike typical game tokens which rely on either inflation (rewards tokens unbacked by stable reserves) or growth (new users buying into the system). In order for gaming apps to reward players with $WINS, they must use revenue to use to buy $WINS in the open market and benefit the $WINS ecosystem and sustainability. Thus, $WINS always benefits as players earn more rewards. Typical web3 games become unsustainable as soon as growth flatlines, even if the playerbase is large, as there isn't net buy pressure in the token economy from new users. In contrast, $WINS is perfectly happy with a large but constant playerbase which consistently generates demand.
# DeFi

$WINS is based on Ethereum, but most activity will likely take place on Polygon PoS. Our project-supported liquidity pools are set up on Polygon, and Trophy's revenue-based purchases will take place there.

$WINS is tradable on Decentralized Exchanges (DEXs) like [Uniswap](https://app.uniswap.org/#/tokens/polygon/0x1a49e59ab7101d6a66d6b2fa6d09932079cc80ec). Liquidity is deepest on Polygon PoS trading pairs.

$WINS is also tradable on some centralized exchanges (CEXs). Note that, since $WINS is based on Ethereum, most of these exchanges will use Ethereum $WINS rather than Polygon $WINS that is awarded via Trophy app.

To move $WINS between Ethereum and Polygon, be sure to use the [Portal Bridge, built by Wormhole](https://www.portalbridge.com/#/transfer). Do NOT use any other bridge, including the native Polygon PoS bridge, as that will not work. The version of $WINS supported on Polygon uses the Portal Bridge.

# Trophy: Gaming Loyalty Platform

Gaming is a huge industry, with over 3 billion gamers worldwide and industry size of [$175 billion or more](https://www.bitkraft.vc/gaming-industry-market-size/). Mobile games advertising itself is a[ $26 billion dollar industry](https://infogram.com/live-state-of-gaming-2023-1h0r6rpmdj0rl2e?live). Every mobile gamer can attest to being bombarded with advertisements. They are the valuable target audience, yet receive little in direct compensation. From the game developer's perspective, the quality of users is often quite low, diluted with bots, fraud, and other extractive behavior. Advertisers are okay to let some fraud slip in as it boosts their numbers. This leads to a situation where games are unwilling to pay much for users since they are often low-quality. In contrast, Trophy aims to directly connect games to players, offering high-quality users albeit at a higher price.

Trophy is the world's first gaming loyalty platform, built to serve both mobile and web3 games. Trophy offers a curated list of games for players to choose from, like a miniature app store. Players are financially rewarded for their in-game progress via gift cards or $WINS tokens -- the more they play, the more they earn. On the other side, game developers pay Trophy to be featured and acquire users. In this way, Trophy cuts out the game advertiser middleman, passing along games' ad spend directly to users.

$WINS utilizes an innovative revenue-based token design to allow Trophy to distribute token rewards while remaining non-inflationary. Many infamously boom-and-bust game reward tokens were unbacked and hyperinflationary. Player reward tokens were emitted willy-nilly, regardless of game revenue. $WINS changes the script -- all $WINS rewards distributed to players come from public market purchases using actual ad revenue earned by Trophy. For example, when a player earns $5 of $WINS, $5 of Trophy's ad revenue is used to purchase $WINS tokens from Uniswap DEX pools. This changes the game on rewards: unlike many other hyperinflationary game reward tokens, $WINS are based on real world value.

# Direct-to-Player Marketing

Games need to reach players. Organic discovery through mobile app stores is difficult, as thousands of games are competing for the same "top 10" slots, and the app stores are restrictive monopolies who have not invested much in discoverability. Traditionally, mobile games reach players thru targeted video advertisements. This industry alone is over [$26 billion a year](https://infogram.com/live-state-of-gaming-2023-1h0r6rpmdj0rl2e?live).

However, targeted video ads rely on targeting to be effective, and recent data privacy restrictions pushed especially on iOS are preventing that targeting. This is causing game ads to be less relevant to users, which reduces clickthru and increases the customer acquisition costs for mobile games. Moreover, ad tech is dominated by a few middleman monopolies who don't leave many other options.

Rather than relying on advertising, Trophy offers a new model -- direct-to-player marketing. Games are willing to spend money to acquire users. Why not let users get a piece of that? By cutting out the middleman, Trophy passes more value to both players and games.

### Game Partnerships

Trophy offers a variety of games on the platform. The games are primarily dictated by demand from game advertising. Initially the demand will come through public game marketing networks. Once the playerbase is sufficiently large, Trophy aims to strike direct deals with game developers, which greatly opens up the options.

Game marketers want players to install the game and reach certain milestones in the game to ensure that they are quality players. Marketers are willing to pay to acquire such quality players, and Trophy passes along this payment to users in the form of rewards. In this way, player rewards for Trophy are covered by revenue.

# User Activity on Trophy

Players do 3 things in Trophy:

1. Pick a Game
2. Earn Gold
3. Redeem Rewards

Trophy offers a curated list of partner games on the platforms. Different games offer different earning rates, which may change over time. Players select their game of choice, install the game via the Play Store, and begin playing.
As players progress in the game, they will periodically "level up" in Trophy. With each level-up comes Gold, Trophy's currency, which can be redeemed for rewards. The more you play, the more you level-up, and the more you earn. Higher levels take longer to reach but reward more Gold. Each game has its own level, so starting a new game will start you at level 1 in that game.

Gold can be redeemed for real value rewards. Gift cards are the simplest, most accessible option. Trophy offers a variety of gift cards at a variety of price points. The specific gift cards are also regionally specific to cater to regional player needs.

Alternatively, players will also able to redeem Gold for $WINS tokens. $WINS redemptions provide an inflow to web3, allowing crypto-savvy users to take their tokens wherever they please. $WINS also offers a better redemption rate than gift cards.

# RNA Wallet

$WINS is developed in partnership with the [RLY Network Association](https://rly.network/) (RNA) wallet. The RNA wallet enables fee relaying, so that apps can pay MATIC gas fees for users. This way $WINS can can be distributed by apps without requiring users to provide their own gas, and can allow users to send $WINS out to their own self-custody wallets.

Web3 mobile games in particular can leverage the RNA wallet. Mobile games are a huge category, especially in emerging markets where crypto is particularly popular due to regional monetary instability. However, mobile wallets are still quite clunky compared to web extension wallets. Some games generate a wallet for every game user, but this creates a clunky hub-and-spoke UX where users must manage multiple wallets for multiple games. A platform-level wallet can smooth the UX dramatically.
